Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 8, 2026
Digital World Programs LLC (“we,” “us,” “our”), headquartered in Tampa, Florida, USA, operates TL;DR News at newstldr.io (the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
1. Information We Collect
- Account information: your first and last name, email address, and a securely hashed password (we never store your password in plain text).
- Subscription & payment information: processed by our payment processor, Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card details; Stripe provides us only a customer/subscription identifier and status.
- Usage & analytics: first-party analytics events (e.g., pages viewed, articles opened, shares) to understand and improve the Service. This is our own analytics — we do not use third-party ad trackers.
- Communications: if you submit an idea or contact us, we receive the information you provide (name, email, message).
2. Cookies
We use a single first-party, httpOnly sign-in cookie to keep you logged in. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
3. How We Use Information
- To provide, operate, and improve the Service;
- To create and manage your account and authenticate you;
- To process subscriptions and payments (via Stripe);
- To send transactional emails (email verification, password resets) and, if you opt in, occasional news updates (via our email provider, Resend);
- To generate AI summaries of news articles (via our AI provider, Anthropic — we send article content only, never your personal data);
- To analyze usage and maintain security.
4. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal data. We share limited data only with service providers who help us run the Service, under contract:
- Stripe — payment processing
- Resend — transactional and opt-in emails
- DigitalOcean — hosting and database
- Anthropic — AI summarization (article content only)
We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights.
5. Data Retention
We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. Scraped news articles are retained for approximately 30 days. Analytics events are retained for a limited period. You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time (see Your Rights).
6. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to withdraw consent for optional emails. To exercise these rights, email us at [email protected]. You can unsubscribe from news emails at any time.
7. Security
We protect your data with industry-standard measures, including bcrypt password hashing and encryption in transit (HTTPS). No system is 100% secure, but we work hard to safeguard your information.
8. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
9. International Users
We are based in the United States and process data there. By using the Service, you consent to the transfer and processing of your information in the U.S.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with an updated date.
